After midterm rout

Trump Jr. backs Vance on Iran war blame

President's son endorses vice president's admission that Republican midterm defeat was driven by Iran war, as Vance says Trump voters are angry and planning to vote the other way

Trump Jr. Backs Vance's Iran War Claim: "Every Word 100% True"

Donald Trump Jr., the president's eldest son, posted his full support Wednesday evening for Vice President JD Vance after Vance published a detailed thread on X explaining the Republican Party's loss in the midterm elections.

"Every word here is 100%," Trump Jr. wrote in response to Vance's thread, in which the vice president acknowledged the dramatic defeat and pointed to the Iran war as a central factor in the results.

Vance posted a lengthy thread on his X account Wednesday evening admitting the Republican loss and identifying the Iran war as the main driver of the outcome. "Our voters did turn out, but they may not have voted for us," Vance wrote.

In the thread, published following the Republican Party's dramatic midterm defeat, Vance said the campaign team had been "obsessively focused" on voter composition, whether the electorate resembled 2024's enough to deliver a Republican victory.

"Despite polls predicting a Democratic blowout, the data kept telling us the same story: in some states turnout was reasonable, in others it was very strong, and in no state was it catastrophic," he wrote.

Vance described a conversation with "the smartest data guy I know," who asked whether the numbers pointed to a major surprise. "No," the expert replied. "We might do better than the polls predict, but the data shows that many voters who supported Trump-Vance in 2024 are angry, and planning to vote the other way."

"Well, in hindsight, it looks almost prophetic," Vance admitted. He noted that in Florida, for example, voter composition was strong but results were disappointing.

Trump Jr.'s family backing of Vance comes against the backdrop of the Republican Party's severe midterm loss. According to reports, Democrats are expected to gain control of both the House and the Senate.

Meanwhile, President Donald Trump himself recently issued a sharp warning to the Iranian regime, making clear that the US military is prepared for immediate and overwhelming action against the nuclear program. In an interview with Fox News, Trump declared that if the political decision is made, American forces are capable of destroying the Har Makhush nuclear facility "in just one hour."

Alongside the sharp threats, Trump hedged and expressed optimism about the possibility of reaching a political settlement through negotiations. "They want to reach a deal, and it can definitely happen," he said in a speech in Washington.
