"The Demand of the Nation"

"1,000 Missiles Locked and Loaded": Trump's Chilling Warning to Iran as Khamenei's Son Vows Blood Revenge

Trump warns Iran of "complete decimation" over assassination threats as Mojtaba Khamenei vows revenge for his father's death, deepening the crisis.

Iran's new Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei, declared on Saturday that avenging his father's death was "the demand of the nation" and "must certainly" take place, in his first public message since funeral ceremonies began for his father, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who was killed in the US-Israeli strikes of February 28. The statement, released on his Telegram account and read on state television, came hours after President Donald Trump issued a stark warning to Tehran over reported plots against his life.

"We pledge to avenge the blood of the martyred leader and all the martyrs of these two wars from the criminal and disgraced killers," Khamenei's message read, adding that vengeance would not depend on his presence or that of other officials, and that "free people around the world" would carry out the mission.

Trump had written late Friday on Truth Social that a thousand missiles were "locked and loaded" and aimed at Iran, with thousands more ready to follow, should Tehran act on threats to assassinate him. He said orders had already been given for the US military to be prepared, for a period of one year subject to extension, to "completely decimate and destroy all areas of Iran." The Wall Street Journal reported earlier in the week that Israel had shared intelligence with Washington about a fresh and specific Iranian plot against the president, though Trump later told a reporter that Israel "came up with nothing" and noted he has topped Iran's list of targets for years.

The warning followed a funeral in Mashhad on Thursday for the elder Khamenei that saw mourners chant for Trump's death and carry signs calling for his killing, according to footage from the event.

Trump has said the ceasefire established under last month's memorandum of understanding is over, following a fresh round of American strikes on Iran this week in response to Iranian attacks on commercial ships in the Strait of Hormuz. Iran struck back at American-linked military sites in the region and fired missiles at Jordan, all of which were reported intercepted. Despite the exchange, Trump said Tehran had asked to continue talks and that Washington had agreed, even as it maintains the ceasefire itself no longer holds.

The Treasury Department has separately imposed sanctions on an Iranian financier accused of managing assets tied to Mojtaba Khamenei and other regime figures, with Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent saying the new supreme leader is "hiding in seclusion while his regime crumbles." Mojtaba Khamenei has not appeared publicly or been heard in any audio recording since his father's death, and senior sources have said he suffered facial disfigurement and other injuries in the February strike.

Qatari mediators have traveled to Tehran and Iran's foreign minister is in Muscat for talks aimed at stabilizing the situation in the strait, even as both sides trade increasingly hostile rhetoric.
