GULF ESCALATION: UAE Shuts Down Its Largest Oil Refinery After Iranian Drone Strike
The UAE has halted production at its massive Ruwais refinery after an Iranian drone strike ignited a fire. The shutdown of the region's largest refinery marks a major escalation in the Gulf.

The Middle East conflict reached a new peak on Tuesday as the United Arab Emirates announced the complete suspension of production at its largest oil refinery. The decision comes after an Iranian drone struck the immediate vicinity of the critical facility.
The Ruwais Refinery, operated by the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), was shut down as a "precautionary measure" following the strike, which ignited a fire within the industrial complex. The facility, located approximately 240 kilometers west of Abu Dhabi, is a cornerstone of the global energy market with a processing capacity of over 920,000 barrels per day.
While the Abu Dhabi Media Office confirmed that emergency teams successfully contained the blaze with no injuries reported, the closure marks a significant victory for Tehran's strategy of targeting regional energy hubs.
