Hezbollah Claims: "Ceasefire Obligates Israel to Refrain from all Military Operations"

From Hezbollah's perspective, the option of a "yellow line" as a buffer zone, coupled with freedom of action for Israel to act against violations of the agreement, is exponentially worse than the reality that existed previously.

Recent reports indicate that Hezbollah could accept the five outposts established after the previous round of fire ended in November 2024, as well as Israel's freedom of operation against threats in that vicinity , but it cannot accept this reality following the current round of hostilities in which Israel creates a buffer zone within Lebanon.

Hezbollah initiated the current round of fire to achieve a better agreement for itself, one that would deny Israel the freedom to thwart threats while allowing the terror group to rebuild its damaged infrastructure.

Now, it cannot accept a "yellow line" that prevents its supporters from returning to their homes across dozens of villages.

It remains unclear what exactly Israel's freedom of action entails at this stage following Trump's tweets last night. Does this freedom apply only in specific cases and exclusively in southern Lebanon, or across the entirety of Lebanon?

Regarding the "yellow line" in southern Lebanon, it can be considered the lesser of two evils: a limited buffer zone, but a buffer zone nonetheless.

However, military officials argue that before the political echelon in Jerusalem discusses a "yellow line" in southern Lebanon, it must draw a red line regarding what Israel cannot accept. It must be made explicitly clear that Israel will not tolerate a reality of Hezbollah violations and attacks against IDF soldiers stationed in southern Lebanon.

Some senior officials in Israel argue that Jerusalem must establish a "yellow line" in southern Lebanon as an unpopulated buffer zone. Such a line is crucial for extracting a heavy price in case of violations as it enables utilizing these violations to justify ground operations aimed at expanding that very "yellow line" and biting further into enemy territory.
