Four IDF Reservists Wounded in Hezbollah Drone Strike as Terror Group Escalates Explosive UAV Attacks
Four reserve soldiers sustained moderate injuries from explosive drone in southern Lebanon • IDF confirms deaths of two additional fighters in separate incidents | Hezbollah's deadliest weapon (Israel News)

Four IDF reserve soldiers sustained moderate injuries Saturday when a Hezbollah explosive drone struck their position in southern Lebanon, marking the latest in a series of lethal unmanned aerial attacks that have emerged as one of the most dangerous threats facing Israeli forces operating north of the border.
The wounded troops were evacuated to hospital for medical treatment, and their families have been notified of their condition, according to military sources.
In a separate development, the IDF authorized publication Saturday evening of the deaths of two additional soldiers: Captain Shahar Gamla, 23, from Natur in the southern Golan Heights, deputy company commander in the elite Egoz commando unit, and Staff Sergeant Ohad Yaari, 21, from Rehovot, a fighter in the Shaked Battalion of the Givati Brigade.
Captain Gamla was critically wounded by an explosive drone strike in Lebanon during the night between Thursday and Friday. He was evacuated to hospital for urgent medical care but succumbed to his injuries over the weekend. Staff Sergeant Yaari was killed in what military sources described as an accidental discharge incident, which has triggered an IDF Military Police investigation. Further details surrounding the circumstances have not been released.
Defense Minister Israel Katz issued a statement expressing condolences to the bereaved families. "I send my deepest sympathies to the dear families, embrace them in their difficult hour, and pray for the complete recovery of all the wounded, in body and soul," Katz stated.
The minister emphasized the ongoing nature of combat operations. "IDF soldiers continue at this very hour to operate forcefully in Lebanon against the Hezbollah terror organization in order to remove threats, defend the communities of the north, and ensure the security of Israel's citizens."
Hezbollah's Explosive Drones: The Battlefield's Deadliest Weapon
Hezbollah's explosive unmanned aerial vehicles have become one of the most lethal threats to Israeli forces operating in southern Lebanon, claiming multiple casualties in recent days. Just last week, Captain Dr. Uri Yosef Silvester, a medical officer with the Shaked Battalion of the Givati Brigade, was killed by a drone strike near the Beaufort Castle.
Military sources have expressed growing concern over Hezbollah's escalating use of explosive drones equipped with advanced camera systems, enabling the terror group to identify targets and conduct strikes even during nighttime hours. According to defense assessments, these capabilities represent a significant operational challenge for troops deployed in the field.
The drone attacks come as Israeli forces maintain operations against Hezbollah positions throughout southern Lebanon, working to dismantle the terror infrastructure that has threatened northern Israeli communities for months. The IDF has responded to drone strikes with combined air and artillery operations targeting Hezbollah launch sites and command centers.
As operations continue, the military is working to develop enhanced countermeasures against the drone threat, which has proven difficult to detect and intercept using conventional air defense systems designed primarily for larger aircraft and missiles.
