Survey Shock: Israel Tops Global Support for America While Western Allies Turn Away

A new international survey reveals a dramatic shift in global attitudes toward the United States. Israel ranks as the most pro-American country in the world, while many of Washington's traditional Western allies are increasingly distancing themselves from the U.S.

Survey Shock: Israel Tops Global Support for America While Western Allies Turn Away

A new global survey suggests that America's strongest supporters are no longer found primarily in Europe, but increasingly in emerging economies and strategic partners across the world.

According to January 2026 data from Morning Consult's America Reputation Tracker, Israel ranks as the most pro-American nation among the 45 countries surveyed, tied with Nigeria at 83 percent favorability.

The findings paint a picture of a changing international landscape in which America's closest traditional allies are becoming more skeptical, while countries outside the Western alliance are expressing stronger support for the United States.

Morocco, Vietnam, and Peru rounded out the top five, highlighting the growing influence of American partnerships in regions beyond Europe and North America.

India, the world's most populous country and one of the fastest-growing major economies, posted a 62 percent favorability rating, placing ahead of longtime U.S. allies such as Canada, Germany, and France.

Argentina also appeared among the ten most pro-American nations, reinforcing the trend that countries viewing the United States as a key economic, security, or strategic partner tend to hold more favorable opinions of Washington.

The survey's most striking finding may be the collapse of America's image among many of its traditional allies.

Nine of the ten countries with the lowest favorability ratings toward the United States are Western nations.

Canada, France, Germany, Sweden, Australia, the Netherlands, Belgium, and Spain all ranked near the bottom of the list, reflecting growing tensions between Washington and several of its historic partners.

Analysts point to a combination of trade disputes, disagreements over NATO spending, President Donald Trump's proposal that Canada could eventually become America's 51st state, and his interest in acquiring Greenland as factors contributing to the decline.

In Canada, concerns about the direction of American foreign policy have reportedly encouraged deeper economic cooperation with Europe and greater engagement with China.

Perhaps even more surprising is China's position in the rankings.

Despite years of strategic competition and geopolitical rivalry between Washington and Beijing, public opinion toward the United States in China is reportedly more favorable than in several long-standing American allies, including Canada, Belgium, and Sweden.

The results underscore a remarkable geopolitical reality: some countries that have stood alongside the United States for decades now view America less favorably than its principal global competitor.

For Israel, however, the findings tell a very different story.

At a time when America's standing is declining across much of the Western world, support for the United States remains exceptionally strong among Israelis. The survey places Israel at the very top of the global rankings, highlighting the continued strength of the U.S.-Israel relationship despite ongoing regional challenges and political disagreements.

The data suggests that while America's alliances may be evolving, its partnership with Israel remains one of the strongest and most resilient in the world.
