A 16-year-old high school student from the Israeli-Arab city of Tayibe has been placed under administrative detention following a joint operation by the Shin Bet and the Israel Police. The youth is suspected of belonging to a terror organization and planning attacks specifically targeting IDF soldiers.

The arrest occurred approximately three weeks ago following intelligence gathered by the Shin Bet regarding the teen's involvement in a terror group and his promotion of plans to harm security forces.

While authorities gathered extensive intelligence, they were unable to establish a sufficient evidentiary basis for a standard criminal trial at this time.

Due to the "real potential" for a threat to national security, Defense Minister Israel Katz signed an administrative detention order to keep the minor in custody.

Security officials believe the arrest effectively foiled imminent terror attacks against IDF personnel.

Police and Shin Bet officials noted that this case reflects an escalating and worrying trend regarding internal security.

Authorities point to an increasing number of Israeli citizens taking a central role in terror activities against the state.

The investigation also highlighted the massive scale of weapon smuggling into Israel recently.

This influx of smuggled goods has caused the price of illegal firearms to drop significantly, making them "available to every pocket" for those seeking to carry out violence.
