A related report says the five suspects were picked up in May and June. It says they had planned several attacks, including a shooting at the Segev Shalom police station and a combined stabbing and shooting assault at the central bus station in Beersheba.
A senior Shin Bet official said the investigations show the security danger posed by cells of Israeli citizens, some of them semi-military in structure, who are working to carry out terror attacks inside Israel.
As JFeed reported on October 8, prosecutors charged four Bedouin residents of Segev Shalom and nearby communities over the same alleged plots against the Beersheba bus station, the Segev Shalom police station and security forces in the town. That report said the indictment was filed by the Southern District Attorney's Office with the Beersheba District Court. It also said the suspects were arrested in May and June, before any attack took place. The Shin Bet figure for the Segev Shalom cell is five people.
In that case, all four defendants were charged with conspiring to commit an act of terrorism and with training and instruction for terror purposes. The main defendant also faces charges of incitement to terrorism and of identifying with a terrorist organization. Prosecutors say he used a public Instagram account over a long period to post dozens of items glorifying terrorists and terror groups.
