The Health Ministry announced that Ebola has been ruled out in a patient who was placed in isolation after returning to Israel from the Democratic Republic of Congo with fever symptoms. Test results came back negative hours after the case was first reported.
The patient had been transferred to isolation earlier today after developing a fever following travel from Congo, where an Ebola outbreak has been ongoing. The Health Ministry said the testing was carried out "in accordance with professional protocols and accepted international guidelines for dealing with high-risk infectious diseases."
The ministry emphasized that no confirmed case of Ebola has been diagnosed in Israel to date. "Ebola is not transmitted through the air, and infection occurs through direct contact with a symptomatic patient or with blood, bodily fluids, or secretions," the statement said. "The ministry will continue to update the public and medical teams as needed."
