A man in his sixties collapsed Thursday evening at his son's wedding in a hall in central Israel and was revived after guests began CPR using a defibrillator installed on the premises. MDA paramedics who arrived at the scene continued advanced resuscitation that included electric shocks until his heart resumed beating and he regained consciousness.
The call came into MDA's 101 emergency dispatch at around 6:22 p.m., reporting that a man of approximately sixty had collapsed during his son's wedding at an event hall in the Shfela region.
MDA dispatcher Ias Azbaraga and dispatcher-paramedic Shoval Ramez immediately began giving telephone instructions to those present. At the same time, MDA systems identified that a defibrillator was installed in the hall, and the dispatchers instructed the guests to use it. Those at the scene began resuscitation and delivered three electric shocks before MDA crews arrived.
MDA medics and paramedics who reached the hall quickly continued advanced and prolonged resuscitation efforts, including delivering an additional electric shock, until the man's heart resumed beating and he returned to consciousness. Once his condition stabilized, he was evacuated directly to the catheterization unit at Kaplan Hospital in stable condition.
