Trump Deletes Jesus Post After Massive Backlash; Double Downs on Critique of Pope Leo
The president refused to apologize for calling the Pontiff weak and claims the public mistook the image of himself as Jesus for a Red Cross doctor. No one is convinced.

President Trump has doubled down on his criticism of Pope Leo XIV as the two clash over the ongoing military campaign in Iran. Speaking from the White House Trump dismissed the Vatican calls for peace and labeled the American born Pope a liberal politician who is politically biased, only a day after claiming the only reason the pope was elected was because he's an American Anti-Trumper.
The Doctor Defense
The tension peaked after Trump deleted a Truth Social post depicting him in robes performing miracles. While critics and religious leaders slammed the image as a desecration Trump offered a unique explanation for the post.
Trump told reporters he believed the robes were medical scrubs and the scene represented him as a doctor for the Red Cross.
"I do make people better. A lot better" the President stated while blaming the media for the religious comparison.
Pope Leo XIV recently described the war with Iran as fueled by a "delusion of omnipotence" and called for an immediate off ramp to the violence. Trump rejected these comments with a series of sharp rebuttals claiming as late as yesterday that "The Pope won't like the results of a nuclear Iran".
While it is common for presidents to disagree with the Vatican the personal nature of this exchange is unprecedented. Even as the Pope travels to Africa to promote Trump remains defiant stating that the Pontiff is "very liberal, and weak on crime".
The pope himself refused to retract any of his statements when speaking to reports yesterday morning claiming he has no fear of critiquing the president and echoing his commitment to the gospel.
