In one of the most emotionally charged evenings in Israeli football history, Hapoel Be'er Sheva captured their sixth championship title Tuesday night with a stunning 4-2 victory over defending champions Maccabi Tel Aviv at Turner Stadium.
The triumph marks the club's return to the summit of Israeli football after an agonizing eight-year drought, during which the Reds came heartbreakingly close to glory only to see it slip away in the final round last season.
The championship was officially sealed when Beitar Jerusalem's match against Hapoel Petah Tikva ended in a goalless draw, triggering jubilant celebrations throughout the Negev capital. With one round remaining in the season and a four-point cushion over Beitar, Be'er Sheva's mathematical superiority became an undeniable reality.
