Celebrations turned chaotic in Paris after Paris Saint-Germain's (PSG) historic 5–0 Champions League final win over Inter Milan, with nearly 300 people arrested in violent clashes with police late into the night.

What began as jubilant scenes near PSG’s Parc des Princes stadium and the iconic Champs-Élysées quickly spiraled into unrest, as fireworks lit up the sky, bus shelters were smashed, cars were torched, and riot police were forced to deploy tear gas and water cannons to contain surging crowds. While most of the 50,000 fans watching the match on outdoor screens celebrated peacefully, a significant minority sparked turmoil across the city.

Paris police reported that most arrests were related to disorderly conduct and possession of fireworks. Videos circulating online appeared to show looters attempting to break into luxury retailers like Chanel and Foot Locker along the Champs-Élysées.

In response, French Interior Minister Bruno Retailleau condemned the violence, writing: “True PSG supporters are celebrating a magnificent win. Barbarians, meanwhile, have taken to the streets to commit crimes and attack police.”
