Shneor Sameach took third place in the 400-meter obstacle course event in Beijing, competing outside his specialty distance ahead of his main event later this week
Israeli obstacle course athlete Shneor Sameach claimed third place Thursday at the World Obstacle Course Championships, earning a bronze medal in the 400-meter event.
The championships are taking place in Beijing, China, where Sameach is competing in the Elite category, the most senior and challenging division. After successfully advancing through the preliminary rounds and semifinals, he reached the final and secured a podium finish.
The achievement is particularly noteworthy because the 400-meter distance is not Sameach's primary event. The Israeli athlete specializes in the 100-meter course, a shorter and faster track that demands explosive power, precision, and exceptionally high pace.
Despite this, at the current championships he decided to step outside his comfort zone and compete in the longer event as well, which requires a combination of speed, endurance, and the ability to maintain concentration throughout the course. The decision paid off, and he finished the competition with a bronze medal and third place in the world.
From Israeli television to the world stage, Sameach, 20, from Or Yehuda, first gained national attention through his participation in "Ninja Israel," the Israeli version of the popular obstacle course competition show. He finished second in the competition and became the youngest competitor in the world to complete Mount Midoriyama, the show's ultimate challenge.
Since then, he has continued competing domestically and internationally, accumulating achievements in ninja warrior and obstacle course racing. His accomplishments include a silver medal at the European Championships in the 100-meter event, a European Championship title in the pairs category, and a bronze medal in the 100-meter event at the 2025 World Championships in Beijing.
Despite this significant achievement, Sameach's competition is far from over. In two days, he is scheduled to compete in the 100-meter event, his strongest and primary discipline.
Having surprised observers by winning a medal in the 400-meter distance, Sameach will approach his next event with a clear objective: to fight for first place, claim the gold medal, and bring Israel the world championship title.
