The United States and Israel have coordinated plans and responses ahead of a possible escalation with Iran, with Washington continuing to deliver sharp messages on Israel's behalf to Lebanon, making clear that Hezbollah's entry into the regional conflict would lead to unprecedented moves by both countries.
According to foreign reports, the US and Israel have transmitted a series of stern warnings to Lebanon and figures close to Hezbollah over recent weeks, stating that an Israeli response to Hezbollah joining the fighting would be severe and devastating.
One option under consideration by Israel and the United States is a blockade similar to measures against Iran, but imposed on southern Lebanon, choking off Hezbollah strongholds the way Iran itself is being squeezed. Beyond that, Israel is expected to launch an offensive without precedent.
According to the Emirati news site Erem News, the plans reportedly include seizing major cities in southern Lebanon, a ground advance north to the Awali River, a siege on the airport and seaports, and widespread destruction in Beirut's Dahieh district. The site added that senior Lebanese officials have received fresh diplomatic warnings from the United States regarding the consequences of Hezbollah entering such a war.
