Knesset 26 Elections

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu held a meeting Sunday night on election integrity and allegations of fraud in the Arab sector, during which he was advised to vote against certifying the results. The Religious Zionism party has also not yet decided if they are going to approve the results.

According to a report by Amiel Yarhi on i24, citing those present in the room, MK Amit Halevi, who represents Likud on the Central Elections Committee, recommended voting against the election results because the irregularities are still under investigation. Likud is demanding that the Elections Committee convene before approving the results to understand the scope of the allegations. If committee chairman Noam Solberg does not respond to attorney Ilan Bombach's request to hold a hearing, the party intends to oppose the results at Wednesday's session.

Likud's demand to convene the Elections Committee comes against the backdrop of allegations of foreign interference and improper influence on the electoral system, which were disclosed by Central Elections Committee chairman Justice Noam Solberg.

In a letter sent by attorney Ilan Bombach, the committee presidency was asked to convene urgently and receive details from the Shin Bet security service about the nature of the allegations, their scope and the progress of the investigation, before the election results are approved.

Last night, Solberg issued a joint statement with Shin Bet chief David Zini and Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara, clarifying that the elections for the 26th Knesset were conducted properly and that the results reflect the will of the voters.

According to the statement, an investigation is underway into serious allegations of financing from foreign sources intended to influence the elections, but at this stage there is no basis for a chnage in the overall results. Sohlberg emphasized that the allegations are still being investigated and that solid evidence is required to challenge the election results.
