Student Beats Teacher Unconscious; School Opens Late After Strike

Classes at Mitzpeh Golan elementary school in the Golan Heights community of Bnei Yehuda will begin tomorrow (Tuesday) at 9:00 a.m., an hour late, after a student violently attacked a teacher on school grounds.

According to the teachers' union, the student punched and kicked the teacher, grabbed her by the hair and slammed her head against the floor.

Second teacher injured trying to separate them

Staff members rushed to pull the student off the teacher. A second staff member was injured during the attempt to separate them and bring the incident under control.

The teachers' union announced a one-hour warning strike in response to the attack, delaying the start of the school day as a show of solidarity with the staff and a protest against violence toward educators.
