Israeli taekwondo fighter Avishag Semberg, who won bronze at the Tokyo Olympics and became one of the country's most prominent athletes, is set to announce her retirement tomorrow (Monday) at age 25.

Semberg, who brought Israel its first and only Olympic medal in taekwondo, revealed today (Sunday) in an interview with LaIsha magazine that she has decided to step away from competitive sport. She is expected to hold a press conference tomorrow to make the announcement official.

At the Paris 2024 Olympics, she was eliminated in the round of 16 and did not replicate her Tokyo achievement. She continued competing after the Games, with her final competition taking place in October 2025.
