Damari's dream come true
Emily Damari’s beloved Tottenhum Spurs capture first title in 17 years in Europa Final
Tottenham break their title curse in Bilbao, clinching the Europa League and giving diehard fans like former hostage Damari a night they’ll never forget.

Emily Damari’s long wait was finally over on Wednesday night, as her beloved Tottenham Hotspur defeated Manchester United 1-0 to win the Europa League final in Bilbao, Spain.
The emotional victory secured Spurs their first trophy in 17 years, sparking scenes of jubilation in Athletic Bilbao’s Estadio de San Mamés. Fans in white, and players alike, were moved to tears at the final whistle, as Tottenham shattered their long-standing reputation for faltering in big moments.
This landmark triumph marked Spurs’ first title since their 2008 League Cup win and their first continental silverware since lifting the UEFA Cup in 1984. For supporters like Damari, it was a vindication of unwavering loyalty through years of heartbreak, missed chances, and "nearly" seasons.
The first half of the match was largely uneventful until the 42nd minute, when Pape Sarr sent in a right-footed cross that ricocheted off Luke Shaw and was lightly redirected by Brennan Johnson into the back of the net. The scrappy goal sent the Tottenham faithful into euphoric celebration, while Manchester United fans sat stunned.
The second half brought its own drama. With United chasing an equalizer, Tottenham defender Micky Van de Ven delivered the moment of the match, a breathtaking scissor-kick clearance off the goal line to deny a near-certain equalizer after a Red Devils free kick.
Tottenham goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario also redeemed himself after a shaky first half, pulling off key saves late in the game to preserve the clean sheet and secure the club's passage into next season’s Champions League.
Despite their dismal Premier League campaigns, Spurs sitting 17th and United just one place ahead, both teams looked rejuvenated on the European stage. But it was Tottenham, and fans like Emily Damari, who ended the night with history made and dreams fulfilled.
