A Post-Pesach Miracle
Flights between Israel and New York finally getting cheaper - here's why
After over a year of heightened travel prices, the relative calm in Israel and another, important factor are helping to make this all-important route more affordable for Israelis.

Prices for the Tel Aviv-New York air route are declining, thanks to increasing competition - not just from American airlines returning to service Israel but also among Israeli airlines, which have received temporary or permanent approval to fly the route, according to an article today (Tuesday) by Calcalist.
Until 2025, the only Israeli airline flying from Israel to New York was El Al, and the flight of American airlines from the country during most of the war meant that anyone who wanted to travel to the United States had to either take multiple connecting flights or fly El Al - in both cases paying significantly higher ticket prices and often waiting a long time for available seats.
Now, not only are American companies such as Delta and United back in Israel, but Israir and Arkia have received permission from the American Department of Transportation to also operate planes along the Israel-New York route.
This route is a vital lifeline for Israel in a number of ways - providing opportunities for families to easily visit one another, international conferences to be hosted, and for business meetings to be held in both countries.
