Billionaire Elon Musk has once again set social media abuzz after responding to a joke about purchasing Britain with a brief question: "How much is it?"
The exchange began when Musk replied to a satirical post from The Babylon Bee, a humor website, which jokingly claimed he had bought Britain in order to "establish free speech" there. Though the original post dated back to 2024, it resurfaced and gained fresh traction following Musk's comment.
What made the response particularly noteworthy was its similarity to events surrounding Musk's acquisition of Twitter (now known as X). Back in 2017, Musk joked online about the possibility of buying the social media company—years before he actually purchased it for approximately $44 billion in 2022.
Despite the historical parallel, there is no indication that Musk genuinely intends to purchase Britain. The post he responded to was clearly satirical, and his reply appears to be part of the ongoing joke rather than a serious inquiry.
