During a severe heat wave in France, a local resident came up with a straightforward solution: he placed a large water basin in an isolated corner between agricultural fields and forest, and installed a surveillance camera beside it.
The result was a compelling series of images and videos documenting how wild animals rushed to take advantage of this new water source to cool down and quench their thirst.
In footage shared on social media, the man himself stands beside the blue basin against a backdrop of harvested fields and clear skies, explaining: "I installed a water source for the animals during the heat wave, and here are the pictures that were captured."
The camera recorded a wide variety of animals visiting the site over several days and weeks between July and August 2026. Among the notable visitors: a large wild boar that climbed directly into the basin, submerged itself in the water, and appeared to enjoy it like a private jacuzzi while ambient temperatures reached 34 degrees Celsius. Families of wild boars, including striped piglets, arrived at night to drink together. Roe deer came to drink from the water during morning hours.
