The Delegation of Argentine Israelite Associations (DAIA), a leading Jewish organization combating antisemitism in Argentina, has condemned what it describes as a "serious act of antisemitism" aboard an Iberia Airlines flight from Buenos Aires to Madrid. Jewish passengers who requested kosher meals reportedly received trays handwritten with the phrase "Free Palestine" or the initials "FP," sparking outrage and calls for an immediate investigation.
The incident occurred on Iberia flight IB0102, departing from Buenos Aires Ezeiza International Airport en route to Madrid, with some passengers continuing to Israel as their final destination. According to DAIA's statement, passenger Salvador Auday was among those affected, receiving a tray marked "Free Palestine." Other Jewish travelers noticed similar inscriptions on sealed trays, including the abbreviated "FP." The organization emphasized that such acts create an unsafe environment for passengers based on their religion or identity.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), DAIA detailed the event and announced it had contacted Iberia's management, demanding a thorough probe to identify those responsible and implement appropriate measures. "We repudiate this discriminatory act and demand explanations and immediate actions," the group stated, highlighting its commitment to fighting antisemitism and preserving human rights.
Auday recounted the experience in media reports, noting that flight crew members attempted to apologize, but the incident left passengers disturbed. A senior flight attendant reportedly documented the trays with photographs for further review.
