A group of pro-Palestinian "activists" faced backlash from local residents in the Woodseats neighborhood of Sheffield while conducting a door-to-door campaign to promote a boycott of Israeli products, leading to accusations of "Jew hunting" and historical parallels to the Holocaust.

The incident, which occurred around February 15-16, involved activists from the Sheffield Apartheid-Free Zone campaign, part of the broader Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement against Israel. They were canvassing homes, encouraging residents to sign pledges not to purchase Israeli goods and reportedly noting addresses to track participation or avoid repeat visits.

Video footage shared on social media captured residents confronting the group, with shouts including "JEW HUNT! JEW HUNT! JEWS REGISTER HERE!" and some holding signs reading "No Tolerance for Jew Hatred."

The activists, derisively referred to as "Stormpoopers" by critics in online posts, left the area after approximately 15 minutes amid the opposition.

South Yorkshire Police are investigating reports of assaults during the clash, including allegations of a man being assaulted and a potential religiously motivated attack. Authorities are also reviewing whether the widely circulated video was edited.

Similar door-to-door efforts have taken place in other UK cities, such as Brighton and Bristol, where activists have collected thousands of pledges. In Brighton, Sussex Police determined the activity did not constitute a crime and declined to investigate further.

Critics, including Jewish community representatives and online commentators, have condemned the campaign as intimidatory, arguing that compiling lists of addresses could target Jews or Israel supporters and evokes antisemitic tactics from history, like the registration of Jews during the Holocaust.
