Burger King has terminated an employee at its Breinigsville, Pennsylvania location following an exchange with a customer that was recorded and shared widely on social media, triggering a polarized debate about political speech in customer service settings.
The incident occurred when customer Rami Feinstein, an Israeli American musician wearing a Star of David necklace, ordered food at the restaurant. An employee at the Burger King asked Feinstein where he was from, and after he replied that he was from Israel, she said, "Free Palestine." Feinstein recorded the exchange and requested a refund.
