Elon Musk visited the White House on Tuesday, arriving with a fleet of gleaming Teslas as he met with President Donald Trump. The visit appeared to leave a strong impression on Trump, who marveled at the advanced technology inside the vehicles.

"Wow, that's beautiful," Trump remarked as he climbed into a red Model S. "This is a different panel than I've ever — everything's computer!"

Earlier that day, Trump had posted on TruthSocial that he intended to purchase a Tesla to show support for Musk, the CEO of the electric vehicle company and a "special government employee" involved in Trump's DOGE initiative.

Tesla's stock has experienced recent declines amid concerns over tariffs, dropping sales prices, and questions about Musk’s focus on various projects outside of Tesla. The former president attributed these struggles to what he called politically motivated attacks.

"The Radical Left Lunatics, as they often do, are trying to illegally and collusively boycott Tesla, one of the world's great automakers, and Elon's 'baby,' in order to attack and do harm to Elon, and everything he stands for," Trump wrote.

In an effort to demonstrate confidence in Musk, Trump followed through on his post by purchasing a Model S, a luxury electric sedan with a starting price of over $70,000. A photo of the president’s notes from the event appeared to show a cheat sheet listing the prices of various Tesla models. Trump also revealed that he had purchased a Cybertruck for his granddaughter, according to CBS reporter Kathryn Watson.

Beyond his personal support for Tesla, Trump went a step further, vowing to classify any attacks on Tesla dealerships as acts of domestic terrorism. His announcement underscored his ongoing efforts to position himself as a defender of American business and innovation.

Tuesday’s visit is the latest episode in Trump’s complex relationship with technology. Over the years, he has expressed skepticism about wind power, criticized the complexity of modern airplanes, favored handwritten notes over email, and even questioned the definition of "digital." Now, with his newfound enthusiasm for electric vehicles, Trump’s stance on technology appears to be evolving—at least when it comes to Teslas.
