Israeli police raided a motorcycle repair shop in Tiberias and discovered a loaded firearm concealed inside a disassembled engine component, authorities announced Thursday.

Officers acting on advance intelligence searched the business as part of an ongoing northern district crackdown on illegal weapons. During the search, they located a pistol hidden inside a mechanical engine or gearbox part wrapped in a white package. The weapon was fully loaded with a round already chambered, ready to fire. A matching magazine and additional ammunition were seized alongside the gun.

Video footage released by police spokespersons shows an officer wearing blue forensic gloves carefully opening the white wrapping on a tool chest inside the shop, which was filled with colorful off-road motorcycles and workshop equipment. The officer extracts the heavy mechanical part, turns it over, and removes the concealed black pistol along with the hidden magazine.

The seized weapon was transferred to the Israel Police forensic laboratories for ballistic testing to determine whether it is linked to any prior criminal incidents.

The shop's owner, a 38-year-old Tiberias resident, was arrested and brought in for questioning, after which he was remanded in custody. The Tiberias station commander subsequently signed an administrative closure order shutting the business for 30 days. A formal indictment was filed against the suspect, accompanied by a request for remand until the conclusion of legal proceedings.

Israel Police stated that illegal weapons pose a serious public danger and that the force would continue operating with determination to prevent violent crime and protect public safety.
