15-Year-Old Detained in Brutal Murder Case of Yemanu Zalka
Police have arrested another minor in connection with the murder of 21-year-old Yemanu Zalka in Petah Tikva. The investigation into the killing, which was allegedly sparked by a dispute over snow spray on Independence Day, continues to expand as the country reels from a surge in youth violence.

The investigation into the murder of Yemanu Benjamin Zalka (Z"L) continues to gain momentum. Central District police, led by the Sharon Area Crime Prevention Unit, arrested a 15-year-old resident of Petah Tikva on Wednesday on suspicion of involvement in the fatal event. This latest arrest brings the total number of suspects in the case to 11.
Earlier today, a court extended the detention of four other suspects in the case. The minor arrested today is expected to be brought before a judge tomorrow for a bail hearing to extend his detention based on investigative requirements.
The Fatal "Snow Spray" Incident
Zalka, 21, an employee at a local pizza parlor, was stabbed to death on the eve of Independence Day. According to the investigation, the conflict began when Zalka asked a group of teenagers to stop spraying snow spray on the restaurant's customers.
Witnesses report that approximately three hours before the attack, the group provoked Zalka at the pizzeria, spraying snow and pointedly asking him what time his shift ended. "He didn't even answer them," one witness recalled. "It was clear they were planning to harm him."
Suspects allegedly ambushed Zalka as he finished his shift, conducted a "lynch," and stabbed him multiple times. He was evacuated in critical condition to Beilinson Hospital, where he fought for his life for two days before succumbing to his wounds.
National Crackdown on Youth Violence
Following a string of violent crimes involving minors this past week, including murders in Petah Tikva and Beersheba, Police Commissioner Kobi Shabtai has ordered a comprehensive national operational effort.
The initiative will focus on combating violence among youth, deploying both overt and undercover forces, along with hundreds of Border Police officers from the National Guard. "We will reach everyone involved to ensure justice is served," said District Commander Maj. Gen. Amir Cohen.
Support for the Zalka Family
In the wake of the tragedy, the Pizza Hut chain, where Zalka was employed, is formulating a long-term support plan for his family. Zalka was reportedly a primary breadwinner for his household.
Planned support measures include:
The Israel Police issued a statement sharing the family's grief and vowing to continue operating with determination to solidify the evidentiary infrastructure against all involved.
