Easy 3-Ingredient Chocolate Chip Cookies

School breaks offer a perfect opportunity to bake with children using this straightforward recipe that requires minimal cleanup and no measuring scales

Three-Ingredient Chocolate Chip Cookies

School breaks often bring moments when parents seek engaging, enjoyable activities to share with their children in the kitchen. This recipe was designed precisely for such occasions: it creates virtually no mess, requires no kitchen scale or complicated measurements, and produces results that delight the entire household.

The recipe calls for just three basic ingredients: one cup of chocolate spread of your choice (such as Nutella or a date-and-almond spread for a healthier alternative), one cup of self-rising flour (or regular flour with half a teaspoon of baking powder added), and one large egg.

You can also add a handful of chocolate chips or colorful candy-coated chocolates as decoration.

Ingredients:

1 cup chocolate spread (Nutella, Hashachar (Israeli brand), or date/almond spread for a healthier version)

1 cup self-rising flour (or regular flour plus 1/2 teaspoon baking powder)

1 large egg

Optional enhancement: handful of chocolate chips or candy-coated chocolates for topping

Preparation method:

Combine the chocolate spread, flour, and egg in a bowl. Children can mix thoroughly using a wooden spoon or their hands until a soft, uniform dough forms that feels pleasant to touch.

Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Have the children roll small balls from the dough, place them on the sheet, and gently flatten each one using their hand or a light press with a fork.

Press a few chocolate chips or candy pieces into the top of each cookie for decoration.

An adult should place the tray in an oven preheated to 180 degrees Celsius (350°F) for only 8–10 minutes, the cookies should remain slightly soft in the center. Remove from the oven, allow to set for 10 minutes, then serve.

Pro tip: The dough can be divided into two bowls, using chocolate spread in one and peanut butter or Biscoff spread in the other, creating cookies in two different colors and flavors.
