Following Spain, Ireland recognizes Palestinian state

Ireland said it would also be sending an official ambassador to Ramallah, while "clearly" recognizing Israel's right to exist.

Following Spain's announcement this morning (Tuesday) recognizing a Palestinian state, Ireland says it intends to follow suit, including full diplomatic relations between Dublin and Ramallah and a full ambassador sent to Palestine.

However, Minister Eamon Ryan clarified by saying that Ireland recognizes the right of Palestine's citizens to be recognized as a state - but also clearly recognizes the right of Israel to exist.
