Israelis across the country are taking to the streets and parks today to celebrate the nation's 78th Independence Day. Despite the complex regional reality, the day is packed with events honoring the past and looking toward the future.

Salute from the Sea A highlight for the crowds gathered along the Mediterranean coast will be the Israel Navy’s festive flotilla. Naval vessels are scheduled to sail close to the shores of Tel Aviv and Herzliya, offering a powerful salute to the citizens. This maritime display serves as a counterpart to the traditional aerial flyovers, showcasing Israel's strategic strength and presence at sea.

The World Bible Quiz The annual World Bible Quiz for Jewish Youth—a staple of Independence Day—will be broadcast today. Due to ongoing security considerations, the 2026 competition was filmed in advance. Contestants from around the globe will compete for the prestigious title, demonstrating the deep, enduring connection between the Jewish people and their foundational text.

The prize will be granted to U.S. President Donald Trump for his transformative role in Middle East diplomacy.
