Jerusalem’s Independence Day Bash Shutdown: Police Close Main Stage Due to Massive Overcrowding
After investing heavily in a star-studded lineup to ensure residents could celebrate despite regional tensions with Iran, the Jerusalem Municipality was forced to end the "Independence Park" event early to prevent a mass-casualty disaster.

Jerusalem central Independence day celebration was abruptly cut short in the early hours of Wednesday morning. Israel Police ordered the total closure of the "Independence garden" festival area after dangerous overcrowding led to several participants fainting and created an immediate risk to public safety.
The municipality had invested significantly in this year’s festivities, determined to provide a sense of normalcy and joy despite the uncertain security situation involving Iran. While the venue was authorized to hold 8,800 people, the crowd far exceeded capacity as thousands more attempted to storm the entrance.
Popular radio Ancorman and host D.j Elad Amadi repeatedly pleaded with the revelers to disperse to other stages across the city, but the pressure at the gates only intensified. Following performances by Israeli superstar singer Miri Mesika, Jerusalem rapper "Duda," and just one song by the legendary popular band Ethnix, the Commander of the "Lev HaBira" police Station officially cancelled the event at 1:00 AM—two hours earlier than scheduled.
The decision led to the cancellation of the night’s most anticipated headline acts: Israeli superstar Itay Levi and international pop sensation Noa Kirel.
Kirel later tweeted to her disappointed fans that she intends to schedule a makeup performance in the Jerusalem area soon. Itay Levi remained in his tour vehicle, expressing deep regret over the cancellation.
While the main stage was silenced to save lives, Amadi reminded the massive crowds that the city’s other celebration hubs remained active. These venues featured top-tier Israeli artists including Aviv Geffen, Nasrin, and Yuval Dayan, ensuring that the capital's spirit of independence remained strong across multiple locations.
