The haredi city of Beitar Illit is mourning the sudden death of Rabbi Shimshon Aharon Goldman, a prominent community figure who passed away Monday at the age of 56.
According to reports, Rabbi Goldman suffered a sudden cardiac arrest this morning while at a hospital where his wife was receiving treatment. Emergency medical teams responded quickly and performed extended resuscitation efforts, but were unable to save him.
News of the death sent shockwaves through Beitar Illit, where Rabbi Goldman was widely known and respected. Rabbi Goldman was the son of Rabbi David Goldman, head of the Zvhil rabbinical court in Bnei Brak, and son-in-law of the Komarna Rebbe of Jerusalem. Both his father and father-in-law lead Hasidic communities with roots in Eastern Europe.
