United Hatzalah medical teams responded to several child injury incidents during Yom Kippur in haredi communities, treating victims with varying degrees of severity before evacuating them to hospitals.
Serious Injury in Beitar Illit
The most severe incident occurred midday in Beitar Illit, where a 4-year-old boy sustained serious injuries after falling in his home.
Yossi Fried and Shalom Turk, holiday responders from United Hatzalah's 'Koach Hatzalah' unit, reported: "According to his family, the child fell from a chair he was sitting on and suffered a head injury. We provided medical treatment at the scene before evacuating him to Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital in serious condition."
Fall from Height in Bnei Brak
On Abarvanel Street in Bnei Brak, a 4-year-old girl was moderately injured after falling from a height at a playground.
Yoni Tzadok and Akiva Kaufman, United Hatzalah medics and holiday responders who treated the incident, said: "We were told the girl fell from playground equipment at a height of approximately 4 meters and sustained a head injury. We provided medical treatment at the scene and quickly evacuated her in a United Hatzalah ambulance to Schneider Children's Hospital in Petach Tikva in moderate condition."
Carousel Accident in Beit Shemesh
On the eve of the holiday, emergency teams were called to Rav Zvid Street in Beit Shemesh following a report of an 11-year-old girl injured at a playground.
Moishy Horowitz, a medic and ambulance driver, and Meir Klamersky, United Hatzalah holiday responder, reported: "We were informed at the scene that the girl was injured by a carousel at the playground, resulting in head and limb injuries. After providing medical assistance at the scene, we evacuated her in a United Hatzalah ambulance for continued medical treatment at Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital in moderate condition."
