A protest march held Sunday evening in Bnei Brak in support of yeshiva students who have not enlisted in the IDF drew a wave of sharp responses from opposition party leaders.
The march was organized by the Tzeva Shachor (Black Color) party. According to the organizers, the central aim of the event was to bring public attention to what they called the plight of those who have not reported for service and to highlight frustration with the haredi parties.
Yesh! party chairman Gadi Eisenkot called the event "Netanyahu's march of shame." "In Netanyahu's government of evasion, the deserters are the heroes. A government that has promoted draft-dodging, abandoned security, and for months hasn't even bothered to stop deserters, can no longer hold the steering wheel of Israel's leadership. Its days are numbered," he said.
Yachad party chairman Naftali Bennett announced: "For me, whoever doesn't enlist won't get a shekel from the state. What's not Zionist is not on my dime."
Yisrael Beiteinu chairman MK Avigdor Liberman wrote: "Without them, Bibi has no government. Soon their march will be in basic training."
Democrats chairman Yair Golan said: "While the best of our sons and daughters are fighting on four fronts, this government gives backing to draft-dodgers. On October 27, the government of evasion will go home, and the haredim to the army."
