The Tosh Hasidic community in Canada this week observed the yahrtzeit (anniversary of passing) of the previous Tosh Rebbe, with commemorative events led by his son and successor, the current Tosh Rebbe.
The memorial observances began the Shabbos before the yahrtzeit with an atmosphere of spiritual elevation. Following Havdalah on Saturday night, community members gathered for a "farbrengen" (Hasidic gathering), during which senior and prominent Hasidim shared stories and teachings from the late Rebbe's legacy and spiritual service.
On the night of the yahrtzeit itself, which fell on a Monday, the current Rebbe held a tish (festive Hasidic gathering) in the main study hall. The following morning, after Shachris, he visited his father's gravesite at the head of the community, where he prayed for the welfare of the Jewish people both collectively and individually.
