Rabbi Chaim Meir Hager, the chief rabbinical judge (Av Beit Din) of the Vizhnitz Hasidic community, has unexpectedly departed from his residence in the United States for Israel, according to reports reaching the community.

The surprise arrival comes just ahead of a major gathering of Vizhnitz Hasidim scheduled for tomorrow at the grand study hall of the Ger Hasidic dynasty in Jerusalem, which will be led by the Vizhnitzer Rebbe himself.

According to the original schedule, Rabbi Hager was not expected to arrive in Israel until closer to the High Holiday month of Tishrei. However, the decision was made during the day to advance his flight and arrive immediately in order to honor the large-scale community event in the capital with his presence.

News of the early arrival has generated considerable excitement among Vizhnitz Hasidim.
