While Israel remains consumed by election season politics, a moving display of Jewish unity unfolded Monday on the Mediterranean island of Cyprus. Amos Liberman, son of Yisrael Beiteinu party chairman and Knesset member Avigdor Liberman, commissioned and presented a new Torah scroll to the Chabad house in Larnaca in honor of his family.

Rabbi Aryeh Zeev Raskin, the Chabad emissary who serves as the island's rabbi, led the uplifting ceremony. The celebration drew a diverse cross-section of the island's Jewish population, with members of both the Israeli expatriate community and the Russian-Jewish community participating.

Amos Liberman was honored with reciting the second verse during the hakafot procession. Standing before the assembled crowd, he proclaimed with feeling: "You have been shown to know that the Lord, He is God..."
