Simchas Torah marks the completion of the annual Torah reading cycle and the start of a new one. Candle-lighting and Havdalah times for Simchas Torah 5787/2026 in Israel's major cities.
Simchas Torah is the Yom Tov on which we complete the annual cycle of Torah reading and begin it anew. On this day we read the final parsha, Vezos Habracha, and immediately after it the opening of the first parsha, Bereishis.
In Eretz Yisrael, Simchas Torah is observed on Shemini Atzeres, the 22nd of Tishrei. Outside Israel it is celebrated on the second day of Yom Tov, the 23rd of Tishrei.
