FBI dismantles over 40 laptop farms in Texas linked to North Korean IT scheme
The FBI dismantled more than 40 laptop farms across Texas last month, seizing nearly 200 computer devices. The operation targeted a network that enabled North Koreans to secure remote IT positions at U.S. companies using stolen American identities, with proceeds funding Pyongyang's nuclear and ballistic missile programs. Indictments were unsealed in Ohio against two U.S. nationals and 10 China-based North Koreans. Prosecutors allege the scheme defrauded 70 companies of over $3 million between 2019 and 2025.
