Trump warns Houthis after Saudi attacks

President Trump speaks out on renewed Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia, blames Iran for trying to disrupt oil markets ahead of US midterm elections

US President Donald Trump has issued his first detailed statement on the escalating conflict between Saudi Arabia and the Houthis, declaring in a social media post that Iran is behind the attacks in an attempt to hurt him in the midterm elections.

Trump began by recalling his previous confrontation with the Houthis over a year ago when he first took office. "The Houthis are behaving very badly," he wrote. "I thought they learned their lesson a year ago when we bombed them very hard and then, at their request, stopped. They were quiet for a long time, but now they have resurfaced in a very disgusting way."

The president then pointed the finger directly at Iran, accusing the regime of orchestrating the attacks to manipulate international markets ahead of America's midterm elections. "This is probably at the direction of Iran, which is a failed nation, with no navy, no air force, with the worst economy in the world and 301% inflation, to hurt Saudi Arabia and deliberately try to raise oil prices, probably ahead of the US elections. Not nice."

Trump concluded with a warning that despite the upcoming midterms, he will remain the one holding all the cards. "Someone needs to explain to them that I'm not running in the elections, I already won, in a tremendous landslide victory, but I will be there after the elections, and I will never forgive and never forget!"
