Likud Spokesman Joins Winter's New Party

Reserve Colonel Ofer Winter is expected to launch his political party today, having appointed a new spokesman who previously served a senior Likud minister

Michael Maoz, who previously served as spokesman for Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar, has been appointed spokesman for Ofer Winter, the reserve colonel set to launch his political party this evening.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has recently issued warnings about Winter's emerging party and other small right-wing factions. Netanyahu argues these parties endanger the right-wing bloc and could lead to his government's downfall.

A Channel 12 poll published yesterday shows Winter's party crossing the electoral threshold for the first time with four seats in the Knesset. According to the same survey, this development would push the Religious Zionism party, led by Bezalel Smotrich, below the threshold. Under this scenario, the opposition bloc would grow to 71 seats, 60 of them from Zionist parties, while the coalition would shrink to 49 seats.
