Smuggling Operation Foiled at Jordan Border

Israeli security forces prevented a major weapons smuggling attempt overnight near the Jordan River crossing at the Adam Bridge, arresting two Palestinian suspects and confiscating 10 handguns.

The joint operation involved detectives from the Jordan Border Unit (known by its Hebrew acronym Yagi) of the Judea and Samaria District Police, working alongside soldiers from the IDF's Bik'at HaYarden (Jordan Valley) and Valleys Brigade.

Security personnel detected suspicious activity in the border area during evening hours. Police and military units were immediately deployed. The coordinated effort led to the identification and arrest of two men in their twenties, both residents of Jericho. During initial field interrogation, forces located a bag the suspects had concealed in the area containing the 10 pistols that had been smuggled across the Jordanian border during the night.

The suspects and seized weapons were transferred to the Central Unit (Yamar) of the Judea and Samaria District Police for further investigation.

Security officials stated they will continue determined efforts along the eastern border to combat weapons smuggling of all types, which could reach terrorist organizations and criminal elements, in order to protect Israeli citizens.
