Terror group denies planning kidnappings, calls for international probe after Defense Minister Katz warns Gaza City will be emptied if soldier or civilian is abducted
Senior Hamas sources responded Tuesday to remarks by Defense Minister Israel Katz, who earlier made clear that Gaza City would be evacuated southward if an Israeli civilian or IDF soldier is kidnapped.
In a conversation with the Qatari channel Al-Araby, Hamas sources stated they "deny the Israeli claims regarding preparations for operations or a plan to kidnap Israeli soldiers."
According to those sources, the threats being issued in Jerusalem are designed to lay the groundwork for a large-scale military operation in the Strip. Hamas claimed that Israel is preparing for aggression that will include an attack on civilian and governmental assets in Gaza, and consequently called for the establishment of an international committee to verify the Israeli allegations.
Alongside the denials, the terror organization added that it is "committed to the ceasefire agreement" and called on mediating parties to pressure Israel to prevent escalation of the situation.
