Health Ministry Issues Urgent Rabies Alert for Neveh Tzuf Area

The Health Ministry issued an urgent public health warning for residents of Binyamin and surrounding areas after confirming that a puppy found near Neveh Tzuf has tested positive for rabies.

The infected animal was a white puppy with brown spots, discovered on Route 450 near Neveh Tzuf after traveling from the direction of Nachliel. Health officials report that one person is known to have had contact with the dog so far, and an epidemiological investigation is ongoing.

Authorities are calling on anyone who came into contact with the infected puppy or with any stray animals in the Route 450 area near Neveh Tzuf between September 9, 2026, and September 23, 2026, to seek urgent evaluation for preventive rabies treatment. Individuals should contact the Ramle Health Bureau at 3 Danny Street (phone: 08-9181202) or their nearest local health bureau without scheduling an appointment in advance. After business hours and on weekends, people should go directly to a hospital emergency room.

Parents who were in the area are urged to check immediately with their children whether they had any contact with the rabid puppy or other stray animals, and to visit a health bureau if necessary. Pet owners whose animals may have come into contact or could have come into contact with the infected puppy are asked to contact their municipal veterinarian immediately for treatment instructions and to help spread the information to anyone who was in the area or nearby communities during the specified period.

The Health Ministry reminds the public that in any case of a bite or scratch from an animal, the affected area should be washed immediately under running water with soap for approximately 10 minutes, the wound should be disinfected, and the person should proceed as soon as possible to a health bureau for evaluation of preventive treatment.
