Water contamination detected

Swimming warning at three Kinneret beaches

Tzinbari, Tzemach and Gofra beaches closed to bathers following abnormal microbiological results; second alert like this in two weeks

The Kinneret

The Health Ministry issued a swimming warning on Monday for three beaches on the Kinneret, Tzinbari, Tzemach and Gofra, after water quality tests returned abnormal microbiological results.

According to the ministry's announcement, the swimming ban remains in effect until further notice. "The Health Ministry reminds the public that swimming is permitted only at officially designated beaches," the statement said.

This is the second swimming alert at the Kinneret in the past two weeks due to water contamination. On September 24, the Health Ministry issued a warning for Hashkedim Beach, also following abnormal microbiological test results. That beach remained closed for approximately 24 hours before the warning was lifted the following day.
