Duvdevan and Paratroopers, directed by Shin Bet, detained four operatives who traded arms and belonged to dismantled terror cells in Jenin; security forces say arrests prevented imminent attacks
Duvdevan Unit fighters and Paratroopers completed an operation Thursday in the Jenin area under the Menashe Brigade, directed by the Shin Bet. Four terrorists were arrested who had traded weapons and previously operated as part of Jenin's terror infrastructure, the IDF announced Friday morning.
They have been transferred to security forces for further interrogation.
The operation is the latest in a series of security actions in the Jenin sector in recent months. Last August a terrorist was killed after attempting to stab an IDF soldier during operational activity in the same area. The force responded with immediate fire and eliminated the attacker on the spot.
Jenin is considered one of the main terror hubs in Judea and Samaria. In recent weeks, security forces have conducted multiple operations in the area to dismantle terror infrastructure and arrest operatives. Just weeks ago, two additional terrorists were arrested in the Jenin and Al-Yamun areas in a Shin Bet-directed operation; they too had been advancing terror plans.
Security officials emphasize that IDF forces will continue proactive operations to thwart terror throughout Judea and Samaria. The frequent operational activity in the sector is designed to prevent attacks and dismantle terror infrastructure before cells can organize and carry out strikes against security forces and Israeli civilians.
Over the past year, security forces have intensified operational activity in the Jenin area after it became a center of intense terror activity. As part of Operation Iron Wall, extensive terror infrastructure was dismantled in the region, but security forces continue routine operations to prevent terror cells from reorganizing.
The joint activity of Duvdevan, the Paratroopers and the Shin Bet demonstrates the close cooperation among the different security branches in thwarting terror. The Shin Bet's precise intelligence enables combat forces to operate with accuracy and reach wanted operatives.
