IDF confirms elimination of Hamas commander who killed Israeli soldier, held hostages

The IDF confirmed the elimination of Mohammad Moshetaa, a Shati Battalion commander in Hamas, who was struck on July 30 and died of his wounds on August 5. Hamas's military wing revealed that Moshetaa shot and killed Staff Sergeant (res.) Michael Mordechai Nachmani on October 9, 2025. The IDF stated that Moshetaa infiltrated Israeli territory during the October 7 massacre and held multiple hostages in captivity, including Tzachi Idan, Corporal Noa Marciano, Ziv Berman, Omri Miran, Ori Megidish, Naama Levy, and Matan Angrest. Moshetaa was a senior field commander documented alongside senior Hamas officials.
