Prior to the strikes, advance warnings were issued to the civilian population to minimize the risk of harm, in addition to the use of precision munitions and aerial surveillance. IDF forces under Southern Command remain deployed across the area in accordance with the ceasefire agreement and will continue to act against any immediate threat.
The operations add to a series of military actions the IDF has carried out in recent days in Gaza. On Thursday, the IDF eliminated three terrorists from Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad who were advancing terror operations against IDF forces and Israeli civilians and systematically violating the ceasefire agreement. The terrorists were killed in airstrikes in Gaza City and the Furqan area.
Among those eliminated: Hussam Walid Hassan Abu al-Ata, a commander in the rocket unit of Palestinian Islamic Jihad's military wing, killed in Gaza City; Majdi Ma'in Yusuf al-Ayoubi, a terrorist in Palestinian Islamic Jihad's military wing, killed in Gaza City; and Muhammad Aja, a company commander in Hamas's military wing, killed in the Furqan area.
According to the IDF, the terrorists had recently been working to restore the terror organizations' capabilities in the Strip and were advancing terror operations against IDF forces and Israeli citizens. Their activities constituted a systematic violation of the ceasefire agreement signed between Israel and the terror organizations in Gaza.
