Operation in Southern Lebanon

Forces from Division 36, the Commando Brigade, and Yahalom engineering unit completed a massive operation on the Ali Taher ridge in southern Lebanon, eliminating the Badr Unit headquarters and neutralizing terrorists entrenched in deep underground tunnels.

In a devastating blow to Hezbollah's infrastructure in southern Lebanon, the IDF has completed an unprecedented engineering operation on the Ali Taher ridge, a strategic terror stronghold overlooking the Nabatieh region. Forces from Division 36, the Commando Brigade, and Yahalom combat engineering unit detonated more than 1,100 tons of explosives, obliterating a massive underground tunnel network and eliminating the headquarters of Hezbollah's elite Badr Unit.

The Ali Taher ridge, which dominated the Nabatieh area and served as a critical command-and-control center for Hezbollah operations against northern Israeli communities, has been rendered completely inoperable.

The military operation unfolded in carefully coordinated phases against entrenched Hezbollah terrorists:

Commando Brigade fighters first secured complete operational control of the ridge's surface through ambushes, precision strikes on tunnel shafts using gunfire, grenades, and drones.

Once the upper terrain was cleared, forces penetrated deep into the complex underground network, systematically dismantling Hezbollah's ability to plan and execute terror attacks against northern Israeli towns and IDF forces.

Terrorists attempting to flee or resupply the tunnels were immediately eliminated through airstrikes and artillery fire. In one dramatic encounter, Egoz Unit commandos killed a terrorist face-to-face as he tried to escape.

Massive Weapons Cache and Strategic Achievement

The operation yielded two critical achievements: the complete destruction of the underground infrastructure that served as the command-and-control center for Hezbollah's Badr Unit, and full control of the Ali Taher ridge, a dominant position overlooking Nabatieh, the Shiite capital of southern Lebanon.

During sweeps of eight underground tunnels with a combined length exceeding 5,400 meters, forces uncovered enormous weapons stockpiles positioned for attack: dozens of explosive drones, advanced UAVs, machine guns, anti-tank missiles, hundreds of mines, explosive charges, and RPG rockets.

The IDF emphasized that with the completion of the Ali Taher infrastructure demolition, a direct continuation of tunnel elimination operations on the Bufor ridge and in the villages surrounding Arnoun, Yohmor, and Tebnit, the entire area has been thoroughly cleared and permanently removed from enemy use. Forces continue operating throughout southern Lebanon at high readiness, fully prepared for any multi-arena scenario to ensure the complete security of northern residents.
